July 31, 2017 - August 4, 2017

The Nursing Camp in Summer at UC Irvine (NCIS: UCI) is a one-week summer program that introduces the nursing career to high school students. NCIS: UCI offers an engaging curriculum based on classroom and boot camp simulation workshops that will provide hands-on experience in nursing skills. Students will also work on writing a college personal statement and creating a health education research project. At the conclusion of the week, students will have the opportunity to present their research projects at the camp reception for family and friends.

Program activities include:

  • Introduction to Nursing Careers
  • Classes taught by Nursing School Faculty
  • Hands-On Simulation Lab
  • CPR Certification
  • Experience with Basic Vital Signs & Patient Care Skills
  • Ambulatory Rotations with Nurse Practitioner Faculty
  • Introduction to Research Methods
  • College Personal Statement Boot Camp

UC Irvine Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing's Nursing Camp in Summer is open to high school students:

  • Entering their junior or senior year in the fall of 2017
  • Over the age of 15
Schedule & Location »

Nursing Camp in Summer at UC Irvine is conducted mainly at the UC Irvine campus at the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing building, located at 106 Berk Hall, Irvine, CA 92697.

Classes are held on July 31, 2017 to August 4, 2017 from 8:00AM to 4:00PM.

Note: NCIS: UCI is a day camp and does not offer overnight accommodations. 

Program Fee »

Program fee is $1,500 for the one-week session, from July 31, 2017 to August 4, 2017.

Program fee includes:

    • Workshop materials
    • Breakfast and lunch

Program fee is due in full two weeks after an applicant is accepted into the program.

  • Current UCI faculty and staff will receive a $75 discount.

  • Limited number of scholarships available.

Max enrollment is 25 students per session.

Acceptance to the program will be notified via email and letter. Program fee is due in full two weeks after receipt of the notification. 

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Full scholarships are available to qualified students. Scholarship applicants are considered on a rolling basis and the number of scholarships offered is limited.
  • To apply for scholarships, please complete the Camp Application packet and please and submit the following: 

    • Scholarship Application
    • Student's High School Transcript (official or unofficial)
    • Letter of Recommendation (from teacher or counselor)


  • The deadline for all applicants is April 30, 2017.
